Youth Mental Health First Aid

Quabbin Community Cares will be providing a Youth Mental Health First Aid training for school staff, community members, and others who work with youth in our area. YMHFA teaches adults the skills and knowledge to support young people (ages 12-18) experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.   Training adults in our community in YMHFA is the first step towards increasing mental health supports and awareness in our community and our school for the 2026-27 school year, we are hoping to be able to use this as a foundation toward bringing Teen Mental Health First Aid training to the middle and high school students this year.  tMHFA trains teens (ages 14-18, or grades 9-12) directly, equipping them with the tools to recognize, understand and respond when a friend or peer shows signs of a mental health or substance use challenge. The program helps teens connect their peers with a parent, guardian, or trusted adult who can provide support. For more information on both programs

If you are interested in being trained through Quabbin Community Cares in Youth Mental Health First Aid, please complete this short form to help us decide if this is possible for this summer.  Please note, this is not through the school district, so there will not be stipends available for staff to attend.  However the training will be free to all participants.

Purple for Prevention 2026

We want to help you celebrate and encourage the youth in your community. No matter how young or old the children in your circle may be, the support and encouragement of today will help them in their future decisions.  Youth who have connections with adults they know care about them are less likely to suffer from mental health, physical health and emotional health disparities.  They are less likely to use substance, contemplate suicide, or self harm, and are more likely to reach out for support when they need it at any time in their future.
